Capsicum Chutney
Ingredients:
Green Capsicum – 4
Onion – 1
Green Chillies – 5
Salt – as needed
Coriander leaves –
a handful
Lemon Juice – 1/2
tsp
Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Channa dal – 1
tbsp
Oil – 2 tsp
Mustard – 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves – a
sprig
Method:
Wash and chop the capsicum roughly, make sure to remove the
seeds. Likewise, wash and slit the green chillies, chop the onion roughly. Heat
a pan and add 1 tsp of oil. Add the urad dal and roast until golden brown. Keep
it aside. In the same pan, add the chopped onion and green chillies. Saute
until it turns transparent. Add the chopped capsicum to it and saute. Once it
becomes soft, add the coriander leaves, mix and switch off the flame. Let the
ingredients cool. Take everything in a mixer along with salt and tamarind
paste. Grind it into a smooth paste. Finally add the roasted urad dal and pulse
it once or twice. Your Chutney is ready.
(OPTIONAL) Heat a pan with oil, temper with mustard, and curry leaves.
Add the ground Capsicum Chutney and saute for a minute. Switch off the flame.
